Please register your messengers! (instructions below.)
Important Announcements:
1. The On Mission Council of the MMBA is very close to bringing a recommendation concerning the person who will replace our retiring DOM, and it is our hope to bring this name before the body at the Annual Meeting for a vote.
2. The MMBA is restructuring to include more pastors and laypersons involved in associational ministry, so as to make a greater impact in our region for the cause of Christ.
We hope you will plan to register as a messenger and attend this very important Annual Meeting as we share a new vision for the future. [What is a “messenger”? Messengers are appointed by member churches and may vote in the MMBA business session. The process for registering as a messenger is found below. Don’t know much about the MMBA? Check out our website HERE!
A Word from Your DOM
It has been my joy and privilege to serve as the Director of Missions since January 15, 2018 and I look forward to continued volunteer service with the association through my new role on the OMC and under a new DOM.
As I look over the last five years, I can joyfully look back over past accomplishments, and at the same time sadly recognize that in some ways our association is weaker than it was when I first began. COVID has had a draining effect on the association as well as it has on many of our churches, and member participation in lower than in the past. I pray that God will refresh our vision for the importance of associational ministry, and that our churches, pastors, and lay persons will have a renewed sense of the importance of partnership in ministry to the glory of God.
I look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting as we look forward to the future!
– Larry Steen, DOM
EMAIL Registration of Messengers
Pastors, Church administrators, church clerks, or other designated Church officers, must register messengers to the annual meeting by emailing to the association (at dom@midmarylandba.org) the names of approved messengers, along with their email addresses, by Sept 30.
Those registered by the 30th, will receive, before the meeting, an email with proposed By-Laws changes, a list of nominations, the proposed MMBA budget, a resume of our prospective DOM and a ZOOM ID that would enable the messenger to attend the meeting on line.
How Many Messengers Can Be Appointed?
Paragraph 7.03 of our Bylaws states:
7.03 Messengers: Each Member Church may designate, upon notice to the DOM, up to three (3) individuals to serve as its representatives to attend the Annual Meeting or any Special Meetings of the Association (“Messengers”). Member Churches which average more than fifty (50) people in attendance for their services (as submitted in their previous year’s annual report) may designate, upon notice to the DOM, another Messenger for each additional twenty-five (25) people above the fifty (50) people average, provided, however, that no Member Church shall have more than ten (10) Messengers.
ZOOM Option for the Meeting
We strongly encourage personal attendance at the meeting so that messengers and visitors can better participate in the fellowship, worship and business sessions of the meeting. However, if you cannot attend in person, you may log in via ZOOM. Instructions will be sent to registered messengers.
